Reminder: In the interest of ensuring the safety of students and school personnel, we have made the decision to dismiss all schools in the Juniata County School District (JCSD) at 1:00 PM today, Friday, September 8, 2023. The reason for this early dismissal is due to concerns related to the bridge closure on Route 75 and the expected extensive traffic congestion through the traffic circle on William Penn Highway. We have been in close communication with the Juniata County Agricultural Society and other agencies regarding this matter, and both organizations agree that the potential for extended delays and safety risks necessitates this early dismissal. We encourage you to plan accordingly for the early dismissal today, Friday, September 8th. Bus schedules will be adjusted accordingly, and we appreciate your cooperation in helping to ensure a smooth dismissal process. After school activities are on as scheduled.

Due to the lack of qualified personnel Geisinger will be unable to contract athletic trainer services with the Juniata County School District. The athletic administration has reached out to 6 other athletic trainer providers but they too report insufficient qualified personnel to fulfill our training needs. Apparently this is not a unique situation as 3 other schools in the Tri-Valley League are currently without trainer services. As we continue to search for a provider, our local EMS and ambulance services have been notified of the situation and will do their best to be present at most varsity events. Geisinger will continue to support Juniata County Athletics by providing coaches with technical preventative information and the necessary team doctor for varsity football events. All providers have assured us that in the event they have personnel to serve our training needs they will reach out to the district.
