February is teen dating violence awareness month. This was set in place by the Domestic Violence Awareness Project, and this year they are emphasizing respect. According to HRPIC News, “1 in 3 U.S. teens will experience physical, sexual, or emotional abuse from someone they’re in a relationship with before they become adults.” Respect is key to having a safe and healthy relationship. We all deserve to have a partner that values you and makes you feel seen. Next Tuesday, February 11th, wear your orange to show your support for healthy and respectable relationships. This issue affects everyone, not just teens, so more than just teens can help to support this cause.
If you are in a relationship that does not make you feel respected, it is okay to leave.
