Snow king

Snow King activities at Juniata High School took place at the dance on January 31st. The Snow King candidates were selected by various groups including the senior class, athletics, student council, Key Club, SADD, Newspaper Club, FFA, HOSA, Building Trades, National Honor Society, Music, Art, and the Yearbook staff. The following senior candidates were selected:

Our first candidate was Jasper Shepps. Jasper was selected by the senior class. Jasper is the son of Missy Shepps of Mifflintown and Chip Shepps of Port Royal. His future plan is to attend college and major in engineering. His school activities include National Honor Society, Scholastic J, football, basketball, and track and field. Jasper attends Cedar Grove Brethren in Christ church. Jasper's escort was Leni Kopf, daughter of Tanja and Hauke Kopf of Hamburg, Germany and host parents Josh and Holly Boone of Port Royal.

 

Our second candidate was Jake Foltz. Jake was selected by the Music, Art and Yearbook programs. He is the son of Joan and Dan Foltz of Mifflintown. His future plan is to attend college and law school and become a lawyer. His school activities include band, marching band, rock band and Scholastic J. Outside of school he works at the Weis store. His escort was Addison Rutherford, daughter of Jim and Kelly Swartz of Mifflin.

 

Our third candidate and Snow King winner was Zan Hockenberry. Zan was chosen by the winter athletic teams. Zan is the son of Alisha Gutshall and Arthur Benoist of Port Royal. His future plan is to enter the workforce. Zan’s school activities include basketball and Scholastic J. His escort was Alivia Auker, daughter of Kelly and Tim Auker of Mifflintown.

Our fourth candidate was Jerry Cordova. Jerry was selected by the National Honor Society. Jerry is the son of Yuri Izguierdo of Mifflin. His future plan is to attend a trade school or enter the workforce. His school activities include football, track and field, and Scholastic J. Outside of school he attends church. His escort was Mallory Garver, daughter of Holli and Torrey Garver of Mifflintown and the late Alison Garver.

Our fifth candidate was Arthur Hazard. Arthur was selected by the service organizations: Student Council, Key Club, SADD, and Newspaper Club. Arthur is the son of George and Colleen Hazard of Honey Grove. His future plan is to attend college for neuroscience. His school activities include Student Council, Scholastic J, National Honor Society, soccer, track and field, senior class officer, newspaper club and the musical. Outside of school he is a CCD teacher at local churches. He works at Juniata Valley Winery. His escort was Hope Kehler, daughter of Brett Kehler of Port Royal and Nicole Kehler of Mifflintown.

Our sixth candidate was Daylyn Kennedy. Daylyn was selected by FFA, HOSA, and Building Trades. Daylyn is the son of Vance Kennedy and Cassandra Boozel of Mifflin. His school activities include FFA, baseball, air rifle, National Honor Society, and Scholastic J. Outside of school he plays travel baseball and umpires youth baseball games. He manages his own landscaping business, 717 Property Solutions. His escort was Emerson Freed, daughter of Jake and Becky Freed of Port Royal.
