The Juniata County Food Pantry’s Summer Backpack Program is now accepting applications for lunch distribution beginning June 9.

 

To be eligible, children residing in Juniata County must have completed any grade, kindergarten through 8th, during the 2025-2026 school year, and have participated in the free or reduced lunch program.

 

To register for the Backpack Program, call the Food Pantry at 717-436-9718 after May 25 for an appointment. Parents/guardians should present a photo ID and have a copy of their child’s report card or digital report card/DOJO. Children must be registered by an adult with legal custody.

 

Appointments are required for registration and lunch pickup. Lunch pickups may be combined with monthly grocery appointments for regular Food Pantry clients.

 

Lunches will be pre-boxed and distributed once a month (20 lunches per child in June and July, 15 lunches in August). Distribution starts June 9 and ends August 22.

 

A free backpack will be provided for each child who registers.
