Meeting on March 16, 2023, the Juniata County School District Board of Directors approved the following change in policy in regard to enrollment age for kindergarten:
The Board establishes the district's entry age for kindergarten as not less than five (5) years on or before August 31, in accordance with state law and regulations.
Students who are born September 1 and on or before September 30 are eligible for early admission screening upon written request to the Superintendent. All requests must be made prior to July 1 of the anticipated year of enrollment. The District will offer testing, which must be completed at least two weeks prior to the start of the school year.
Early admission will be considered if the student meets the following criteria:
1. Screening by a certified school psychologist or designee of the Superintendent.
2. Compliance with other requirements as specified by the Superintendent.
