Juniata FFA Chapter was recognized with the National FFA Chapter Award at the 91st National FFA Convention and Expo in Indianapolis, Indiana on October 25. The National FFA Chapter Award ranking is given to only ten percent of a state’s FFA chapters.
To apply for the National FFA Chapter Award an FFA chapter must meet a minimum number of quality chapter standards. To do this, chapters need to conduct one activity related to each of the 15 quality standards, in addition to meeting the minimum criteria outlined in the National Quality Chapter Standards, which include community service, chapter development, financial planning and student leadership.
After being scored at the state level, applications are sent to the National FFA Organization to be scored on the national level. At the national level, chapters compete for National FFA 3-star, 2-star or 1-star ratings, with 3-star being the highest honor. This year the Juniata FFA Chapter received a 2-star rating. Juniata FFA chapter has earned a national rating almost every year since 2006. The Juniata FFA chapter has been advised by Jessica Morgan since 2011.
Due to winter weather conditions cancelling school on Thursday, November 15, the Juniata County School District’s Senior Luncheon has been postponed until a later, as yet undetermined, date.
