Dear JCSD Community, Due to the recent activities that have taken place in the Juniata County Schools and across the nation, the Juniata County Schools are looking to add the following to our schools as soon as possible.  (1) We are ordering metal detectors for each of our buildings to take additional precautionary and proactive steps for students entering into our buildings in the mornings.  (2) We are looking to schedule a parent meeting with either the State Police or the Office of Safe Schools in the evening as soon as they are available to give parents information on ways to talk to their children about what has been transpiring across the nation.  (3)  We are continuing to have the State Police, County Probation, and the Sheriff’s Office come into our schools to be proactive and make their presence known in the buildings.  We hope that by implementing these steps, we will allow more of a sense of normalcy to return to our county and to our schools.   The safety issues confronting our nation and community are serious. We know that parents, students, and staff will work together to help maintain a focus on teaching and learning in our schools as we address this continuing situation. Thank you in advance for your cooperation as we work together to ensure the safest environment for our students, staff and community.  Sincerely, Keith D. Yarger, Superintendent
