Flexible Instructional Days

JCSD will use a variety of strategies to provide instruction when a Flexible Instructional Day (FID) may be called, typically due to inclement weather. When a Flexible Instructional Day (FID) is used, JCSD will notify students, parents and staff through the website’s notification system as well as social media. The notification should occur around 5:30am and will specify that it is a FID.

Students will access similar online resources that are currently used as part of their regular instructional day. Assigned work and expectations will be reviewed with students prior to the implementation of FID. Students will access material through Google Classroom. Any assignments on a FID will be due within five school days after the FID. Students who do not have internet access at home will be given a hard copy lesson on the day following a FID if it wasn’t available prior. Students with an IEP and/or 504 Plan will be provided with accommodations in accordance with the provisions set forth in their IEP and/or 504 Plan.

Students placed out of district will follow the same guidelines for the FID as required when JCSD or the receiving district has issued a cancellation of school notice.

Students will be required to log attendance by completing and turning in assignments. Students who are unable to complete the work due to sickness, appointments or prior notice of absence are required to submit attendance notes the day following the FID to the office following attendance procedures set forth by the district.
