The Juniata County School District Board of Directors is seeking applications to fill a vacancy on the Board representing Region 6 (Mifflin, Mifflintown and Thompsontown boroughs).
To be eligible to be elected or appointed to a Pennsylvania school board, an individual must be a citizen, at least 18 years old, of good moral character, and a resident of the school district for at least one year prior to the date of election or appointment. The candidate must also live within Region 6.
Board members serve the community in a volunteer capacity. In addition to attending and participating in two monthly meetings, members are expected to serve on Board committees, attend school functions, and advocate for all District students.

The Board intends to fill the vacancy at a public meeting on Wednesday, April 12, 2023. Candidates will be interviewed during a 7:00 p.m. workshop meeting, to be followed by a special voting meeting, at the Administrative Office Building at 146 Weatherby Way, Mifflintown.
The individual appointed will serve until the December 2023 reorganization meeting.
Once Board approved, the successful candidate will be required to file a statement of financial interests and take an oath of office before entering upon his/her duties.
