The Juniata County School District solicits sealed bids for blacktop milling and paving replacement at East Juniata High School, 32944 Route 35, McAlisterville, PA. The project will include approximately 66,700 square feet of asphalt. Approximately 33,000 square feet is to be sealed, 17,260 square feet is to be milled, and approximately 600 square feet of concrete is to be removed. The contractor will also be responsible for painting of parking space lines. Project completion deadline is August 11, 2023.
A mandatory pre-bid meeting will be conducted at East Juniata High School on Thursday, April 6, 2023 at 9:30 a.m.
Bids shall be submitted in sealed envelopes marked “Paving Project Bids” and delivered to the Juniata County School District Administrative Office, 146 Weatherby Way, Mifflintown, PA 17059. Bids will be received until Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. prevailing time, at which time they will be opened and read.
Sealed bids shall be accompanied by a certified check or bid bond in the amount of ten (10) percent of the amount of the bid, made payable to Juniata County School District. Checks or bonds will be returned to unsuccessful bidders after the contract has been awarded, or the bids rejected. The successful bidder’s check or bond will be returned when the contract has been properly completed.
In case the successful bidder fails to enter into a contract within ten (10) days after notification of acceptance of bid, said check or bond shall be forfeited to the School District.
Bids must remain in force for sixty (60) days after the date of the bid opening and may be rejected any time prior to the expiration of said date.
The successful bidder will be required to furnish a Performance and Payment Bond in an amount equal to 100% of the contract price. Surety shall be satisfactory to the School District and shall be included in the contractor’s bid amount.

Recommendation for award of bids will be made at the April 20, 2023 Board of Directors meeting. The District reserves the right to reject any or all bids, and to accept or reject any parts thereof, and to waive any defects or irregularities in bids and bid securities, and to make the award that is determined to be in the best interest of the District.
